What you need to know
Taking a laboratory test soon? A little preparation can go a long way in helping you get the most accurate results. Here’s what you need to know before your visit:
Check if Fasting is Needed
Some tests require you to avoid eating or drinking (except water) for several hours. Not sure? Call us or ask your doctor in advance.
Drink Water
Being well-hydrated makes it easier to draw blood. Just avoid coffee, alcohol, or sugary drinks unless you’ve been told otherwise.
Mention Your Medications
Let us know about any medicine, vitamins, or supplements you’re taking. These can sometimes affect test results.
Watch What You Eat (only if instructed)
For certain tests, you may need to avoid specific foods the day before. Always follow the instructions given.
Bring What You Need
Make sure to bring your ID (AZV and Private Patients), test order, and any insurance or referral documents.
